WE DO NOT SEND OUT A PRE RIDE BRIEFING EMAIL. ALL THE INFORMATION YOU NEED FOR YOUR POLOCINI EVENT CAN BE FOUND HERE.
EVENT H.Q: The Woodford Centre, Chester Road, Woodford,Cheshire. SK7 1PS.
REGISTRATION: Opens at 8:15 riders leave from 9:15am. You will receive a number-board to attach to your cycle. Registration is a simple fast process. We even throw in some Haribo.
Riders will leave every two minutes in groups of twenty from 09:15. Because the event is organised to British Cycling rules we are not allowed to do a mass start.
FOOD: We have the best food of any events. This is because of the fantastic Jackie Kearney (master chef finalist) from The Hungry Gecko providing excellent food. Included in the entry fee we have pre ride porridge and a post ride meal plus tea and coffee.
FACILITIES AND PARKING: Parking is on a first come basis. The car park at Woodford holds 150 cars. There is a large field which can be used for parking although if it’s wet then we strongly recommend that once the car park is full that riders park outside the venue on the main road. If you live within ten miles of the HQ you really should be riding in!!! There are no changing facilities at Woodford except for standard toilet cubicles.
THE CAR PARK WILL BE CLOSED FROM 9AM UNTIL ALL RIDERS HAVE LEFT THE VENUE. Once the car park is closed riders can assemble in the entry area ready for a start at 09:15.
SIGNAGE: Our signs are black arrows on a yellow back ground. These signs are on solid correx boards. There is an example of these at registration for you to view.
Our support bike goes out ahead of the ride to check all arrows are in place. Chances are that if you ring up saying you've got lost you’ll get laughed at. With arrows and GPS you really shouldn’t be going off course!
WE ONLY HAVE ONE TYPE OF ARROW. THERE IS NO REASON TO FOLLOW ANY OTHER ARROWS THAT YOU MAY SEE.
FEED STATIONS: The feed station can be found at the halfway point of the ride and is stocked with water, flapjacks, bananas and a few other snacks.
RULES: All Polocini events are organised using British Cycling guidelines. Details can be found HERE.
UNDER 16 RIDERS: All under 16's ride for free with a full paying adult. If you are riding with an under 16 please email firstname.lastname@example.org with details so we can add the rider to our entry list.
EMERGENCIES: We require all entrants to carry a form of identification and emergency contact details. Should you get into difficulties at the event please telephone the number that is printed on your numberboard or you can save 07958 135862 in your mobile phone. We will send out a vehicle to collect you only in case of emergency or mechanical failure. Not punctures or tired legs. In 2012 we did have a rider who had a heart attack and this is covered as an emergency. There is no need to panic whilst you are out riding and push too hard. There is plenty of top grub for everyone.
PHOTOS: We have the excellent Rick Robson of Cyclesportphotos on photography duty. Rick is an all round top bloke and a very good friend of ours. He drives in from Yorkshire and spends the day the day standing around taking pics before heading home to sort them into order and upload them. So don't go nicking the pics off his website and sticking them up on your facebook and twitter feeds. You'd basically just be a thief. If you want a pic, pay for it!
TOILETS (ON ROUTE): There are toilets at various cafes, petrol
stations etc. But there are also public toilets in Bollington (20p) and Prestbury.
TIMING: Please note that we will not have a timing system at the event. We really do not like timed events!! More info on timing is HERE
Should you have any questions then please do not hesitate to email us at email@example.com
